Please stop what you’re doing right now and read this.
This is Deena, we met in college and became friends who were supportive of our different religious identities. Deena is a proud Muslim woman who is very supportive and kind to other people. She’s taught me to not greet someone with fear or mistrust just because they don’t believe what I do. She’s taught me how to be a strong person who is active and proud. She’s dealt with so much hate and distaste because of her faith and it hurts to see her journey with that.
Recently, Deena was a victim of a violent hate crime while out celebrating the San Francisco Giants’ World Series win. While in San Francisco’s Mission District, Deena was pushed into a bonfire by an unidentified man, causing her to have 3rd degree burns on her left hand and the tops of her feet.
Deena is currently in recovery but is hurting financially. A fundraiser has been created to help her recover from the 3rd degree burns inflicted on her as well as counseling.
Please help her. This is a person who was pushed into a fire for no good reason. She’s dealing with fierce trauma and fear while struggling financially with medical bills. She needs the kindness of others to help her get through.
I completely understand if you can’t make a donation (it’s a hard time right now). Prayers, messages of support, and wishing her well are also good!
If you’d like to send Deena a message of support or healing you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I’ll print them out and make a little booklet for her!
Please signal boost this if you can. Our goal is to fundraise $10,000 to help her out during this time.
